Former Bears backup quarterback quarterback Josh McCown might wind up back in Chicago.

ESPN’s Vaughn McClure tweeted Wednesday morning that McCown was “dining with Bears coach John Fox this morning.”

McCown, who bolted the Bears last offseason and signed with Lovie Smith’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is back on the free agent market after one season with the Bucs. McCown proved capable as Jay Cutler‘s backup and had a successful half-season filling in for him in 2013.

At this point in McCown’s career, his days of being a regular, full-time starting quarterback are in the past. At the right price, I think it’d be a good move to bring him back to the Bears as a backup.
