On a big day in the NFL in terms of franchise tags and roster movements, the Pittsburgh Steelers released veteran wide receiver Lance Moore. Moore lasted just one season with the team after eight years in New Orleans.
The immediate question that comes to mind is whether or not the Bears would be a good match for Moore. New Bears general manager Ryan Pace knows him well from his time with the Saints organization. Moore is — or, at least, he once was — the speed wide receiver the Bears are lacking on the roster. At 31 years old, it’s hard to say how much Moore has left in the tank, not to mention, much of Moore’s success in New Orleans could have been due to playing with Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees and in head coach Sean Payton’s dynamic offense.
Still, Moore has to be considered as an option, especially if the Bears part ways with Brandon Marshall, as the hot rumor seems to suggest.
