ESPN NFL reporter Sal Paolantonio spoke with 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia and mentioned the Bears as a possibility for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Paolantonio said he spoke to Mariota’s agency, who told him that Chicago had interest in their client.
“I said, ‘Chicago, really? They have [Jay] Cutler,'” Paolantonio said about his conversation with the agency. “[The agency] said, ‘Absolutely Chicago. I’ve heard from Chicago quite a bit. They’re very interested in Mariota.'”
This time a year is very conducive to smoke screens and mixed signals, so I don’t know what to make of Paolantonio’s report. But it’s an interesting tidbit, to be sure.
