In what hardly comes as a great surprise, sources say that Bears veteran linebacker Lance Briggs will not be returning to the team in 2015, according to Jen Lada of CSNChicago.com.

Briggs is a 12-year veteran who was drafted in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft, arguably the best draft pick of former general manager Jerry Angelo’s tenure. He stayed mostly healthy throughout his entire career, never missing more than two games until the past two seasons, when he played in a combined 17 out of 32 games.

With a new regime coming in, the Bears felt they needed to go younger and get better bang for their buck.
