Shortly after word broke about the trade of wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets, ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen will be re-signing with the team.

Clausen signed with the Bears last year and started one game after the team benched starter Jay Cutler. Clausen was drafted in the second round of the 2010 draft by Carolina, which was the final year of new Bears head coach John Fox‘s tenure with the Panthers.
