In a somewhat surprise move, the Bears held outside linebacker Willie Young out of the Seattle Seahawks game, designating him as one of their inactives. Young was not injured — to the general public knowledge — so he was a healthy scratch.
Young had a role on defense in the first two games of the season, playing about a third of the snaps against the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals.
The Bears might be cycling in and out linebackers all season as they try to find the right combination of players who can contribute on both defense and special teams. Lamarr Houston and Sam Acho are other linebackers that Young will have to compete against for playing time.
