Bears head coach John Fox announced on Monday that backup running back Jacquizz Rodgers was placed on injured reserve with a broken arm and that he will miss the rest of the season. Rodgers apparently broken it on a special teams play in Sunday’s 18-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I think he’s a guy who kind of surpassed probably our expectations and contributed on the field whether it was on offense or in the kicking game,” Fox said. “He’s a guy that will be missed but over time he’ll get better.”
The Bears signed running back Antone Smith to fill Rodgers’ roster spot. Smith, a veteran in his sixth NFL season, actually played with Rodgers in Atlanta.
